Understanding and contextualising mantau

What mantau is, what features the app offers, and who it is suitable for.

mantau is a collaboration app developed and operated in Germany for digital communication, collaboration and group organisation. It combines a messaging service, shared calendars, file storage, forms, video conferencing and other tools in a single centralised application. mantau is suitable for businesses, clubs, social organisations, schools, local authorities and other organisations.

A messaging app is primarily used for exchanging messages and files. A collaboration platform such as mantau goes a step further: it combines communication with shared appointments, documents, forms and organisational workflows. This enables groups not only to communicate with one another, but also to organise their collaboration directly within a single application.

One of mantau’s key features is its decentralised group management. Groups and sub-groups can be organised and managed independently, without every change having to be made by a central IT administration team. The group structure can be adapted at any time. In addition, the platform offers integrated tools for communication and organisation, as well as data protection-compliant operation in German data centres.

mantau is suitable for small groups as well as for larger companies and organisations with numerous departments, teams or sites. Typical areas of application include companies, clubs, associations, church parishes, schools, nurseries, social organisations and local authorities. Thanks to flexible group structures and a range of usage models, mantau can be adapted to meet a variety of organisational requirements.

Yes. mantau is a German alternative to Microsoft Teams for organisations that wish to manage their communication and collaboration centrally and in compliance with the GDPR. The app offers a messaging service, file storage, a calendar, forms and video conferencing. Unlike Microsoft Teams, mantau places particular emphasis on flexible group structures, decentralised administration and integrated tools without the need for additional Microsoft services.

Yes. mantau can replace WhatsApp for group communication within companies, clubs and organisations. As well as the messaging service, it offers shared calendars, files, forms and other features. These can be enabled or disabled for each group as required. Unlike WhatsApp, new group members can also access the group’s previous chat history.

An all-in-one app such as mantau brings together communication, appointments, files, forms and video conferences on a single platform. This means users do not have to constantly switch between different applications. Information remains available within the relevant group context, organisational processes become clearer and the effort involved in managing multiple services can be reduced.

Yes. mantau is also suitable for building and organising digital communities. Members can exchange ideas in themed groups, share information, coordinate dates and organise activities together. This is of particular interest, for example, to clubs, associations, networks, interest groups, local communities and larger organisations.

mantau is developed in Germany and operated exclusively in German data centres. The platform is designed to ensure compliance with the GDPR. Data is transmitted in encrypted form, and messages, files, appointments and group names are stored in encrypted form. Role-based and permission-based access controls, as well as additional access protection features, support secure collaboration.

mantau offers free access for small groups, as well as paid plans for larger groups and organisations. The price depends primarily on the required participant capacity and the selected add-ons. Users who join an existing group can generally participate free of charge.

Yes. In mantau, external partners, customers, members and volunteers can also be included in groups. Use of the platform is free for invited participants. This makes mantau particularly well-suited to collaboration across organisational boundaries, for example in projects, clubs and social organisations.

mantau enables you to map out individual organisational structures using groups and sub-groups. These can represent, for example, departments, teams, projects, locations or sections of an organisation. Groups can be reorganised, expanded or moved within the structure at any time. Roles and permissions govern administration and access.

mantau is a cloud-based application that can be used without the need to install a server. Once you have registered, you can set up groups and invite participants, for example via an invitation link or a QR code. As group management can be carried out decentrally, even larger organisations can be built up gradually without having to administer all groups centrally.

Yes. The group structure in mantau can be changed at any time. Groups can be expanded, renamed or moved within an organisation. Sub-groups can also be added. This allows mantau to grow alongside an organisation and be adapted to new tasks, teams or projects.

Yes. mantau offers optional add-ons for membership management and Customer Relationship Management (CRM). These allow you, for example, to organise members, contacts, organisations, tasks, appointments and other administrative processes centrally. The add-ons complement mantau’s communication and collaboration features.

Yes. mantau is also available as a white-label solution. Companies and organisations can offer the platform as their own app, featuring their own name, logo and customised branding. The app can be made available in app stores whilst continuing to utilise mantau’s technical infrastructure and features.
